Join Yarn Safaris® for a colorful fiber and fall foliage tour in western Massachusetts. TheFranklin County Fiber Twist Marketplace in Old Deerfield showcases the many sheep and fiber farmers, spinners, dyers, felters, weavers and other artisans in Franklin County and beyond.Vendors include Foxfire Fiber & Design, Greenwood Hill Farm, Jager Farm Icelandics, Journey Wheel, Kristin Nicholas Designs, Northern Woolies, and Wool & Dye Works (for rug hooking supplies). Light lunch will be available for purchase at the Marketplace. Fiber Twist attendees also receive free admission to the Memorial Hall Museum adjacent to the Marketplace — the collection includes spinning wheels, niddy-noddies, dye pots, looms, embroideries and antique quilts. After lunch, we will visit Foxfire Fiber & Design at Springdelle Farm in Shelburne, MA where a flock of Cormo and Border Leicester sheep produce fine wool that is hand-dyed in gorgeous hues. Yarn and fiber, handwoven scarves, and knitwear pattern kits designed by Lisa Lloyd will be available for purchase. For our final fiber fix of the day, we will stop at WEBS(and a nearby coffee shop) in Northampton, MA and explore the retail store and warehouse. The more yarn you buy the more you save: most yarn purchases over $60.00 qualify for a 20% discount (and most yarn purchases of $120 or more qualify for a 25% discount).
We will pick up at Woburn Anderson at 7:30 am, Newton Riverside at 8:00 am and and the Millbury Park & Ride Lot (Exit 10A off the Mass Pike) near Worcester at 8:30 am. We will return to Newton Riverside by 7:00 pm. For more information about pickup locations, click here.
